Bahrain and Iran Must Establish the Khilafah (Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood

The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, stated, “We regret Iran’s disregard for the bond upon the Deen that should unite us and its forgetfulness of the favor of the Message of Muhammad ﷺ upon the Persian nation, which gave its civilization a spiritual, human and intellectual depth after ages of darkness.” Days earlier, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, responded to the King of Bahrain’s statement in a post on his page on the X platform, in a lengthy statement in which he referred to Iran’s role in Islamic history and civilization, criticized Bahrain’s support for America in its aggression against Iran, and called on the King of Bahrain to weigh his country’s conduct by the scale of Islam.

In response to this media exchange using Islam, the Central Media Office of Hizb ut-Tahrir clarifies the following:

Firstly: Both the officials of Iran and Bahrain have forgotten or overlooked that Muslims are one Ummah to the exclusion of all other people, and that they must be within a single political entity ruled by one Khaleefah (Caliph). They also disregarded that the entity each of them represents tears apart the Muslims and prevents their unity under that single comprehensive Shariah entity. Due to this, they and their regimes are sinful and disobedient to Allah ﷻ.

Secondly: Iran’s role in Islamic civilization from the time Muslims conquered it during the era of the Khaleefah Rashidun (Rightly Guided Caliphs), until just before the establishment of a nationalistic state at the beginning of the Sixteenth Century CE is denied by no one. The greatest share of the contributions of Muslim ulema in Persia to the Islamic heritage throughout that period was in the Arabic language, and it was part of the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate) state. It must be noted that this role does not vindicate the current rulers of Iran, who contribute to tearing apart the Islamic Ummah and prevent the establishment of the Khilafah (Caliphate) in Iran. Their mere boasting of their historic role does not absolve them of the sin of ruling by other than what Allah ﷻ has revealed.

Thirdly: Both sets of officials, each of whom seeks to establish proof against the other upon the scale of Islam, contravene Islam and disobey Allah ﷻ in many matters, including their alliance with the colonialist disbelieving states and enabling them to take control over the lands of the Muslims and their wealth and resources. While the regime of Bahrain is subordinate to Britain, the regime of Iran was, until the beginning of the latest war since late February of this year, revolving in the orbit of America. Nor does any Muslim forget the crimes of the Iranian regime in many Muslim countries, such as Iraq, Syria and others, in service of American interests, not to mention both regimes’ perpetuation of the fragmentation of the Islamic Ummah.

Fourthly: The Shariah obligation upon the aforementioned officials exceeds the Shariah obligation upon any ordinary Muslim. Each of them represents an entity, and each of them is more capable of bringing about change and establishing the Khilafah (Caliphate). Their responsibility is greater than that of the general Muslim populace, and the sin of their negligence is more severe before Allah ﷻ. Therefore, we seize this opportunity to call upon them and upon every official in the lands of the Muslims to give support to Hizb ut Tahrir for the establishment of the Second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood, so that it may gather the dispersed Muslims, mend their fragmentation and unify them against their enemies.

﴿إِنَّ هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ﴾

“Indeed, this Ummah of yours is only one, and I am your Lord, so worship Me alone.” [TMQ Surah Al-Anbiya : 92]
